Terms and conditions for the
Provence Art Experience painting workshop in Arles, southern France
This is the generic version of our Terms and conditions document for a classic workshop of 7 days, you will be sent by e-mail the specific version of your workshop where all the *** will be filled with specific dates, names and costs.
The workshop period is from *** to ***
From arrival at your accommodations in France until your departure.
Arrival and Departure
Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from France.
Transfers are included upon arrival and departure.
We will pick you up at Marseille Marignane Airport MRS or train station TGV d’Avignon.
Included in the price
Accommodations and transfers after your arrival in France (Marseille Airport or train station TGV Avignon) and before you return home from France (same airport, same train station)
Meals as stated in itinerary:
5 Gourmet dinners by our chef at the guest house with memorable local wines
5 lunches at local restaurants or champêtre lunches depending on the itinerary.
7 copious breakfasts at the guest house
all sightseeing tours, entrance fees and field trips as specified in the itinerary
7 nights stay at your assigned accommodation (hotel particulier – a mansion – in the heart of the old Arles, near the roman arenas)
including but not limited to Electricity, heat, hot water, clean bed linen, towels, soap, all sightseeing tours and field trips as specified on arrival.
Painting opportunities and demos with artist Qiang Huang.
Itinerary may be adjusted to accommodate seasonal openings and or unexpected closing of attractions, restaurants, museums, etc… and or bad weather.
The published price is based on a minimum group of 6 registered and enrolled participants.
Not included in the price
Meals are not included unless specified in the specific itinerary of your workshop.
Roundtrip transportation to/from guest’s departure point in the USA.
Airfare not included / Entrance fees to museums and sites / Excess baggage charges. See your air carrier for rules
Liquor or distilled drinks unless specified in itinerary / Hair dryers, electrical adapters and or convertors
Entertainment or activities during scheduled free period during days or evenings.
Items of a personal nature, including but not limited to, laundry, extra porterage, etc…
Optional baggage and trip cancellation insurance: this is highly recommended
US customs charges upon return (on goods exceeding $400 per person at last notice)
Telephone charges (skype is your friend)
Any other expenses, costs or charges not specified in the section titled “included in the price”
Overnight lodging, meals, transportation, or missed travel services due to airline scheduling, misconnections, delays or cancellations.
All prices are in United States Dollars (US$)
To reserve your place on the trip:
- More than 90 days prior your arrival date, a US$ *** deposit will save your place with the balance of US$ *** due no less than 90 days prior to arrival.
- Less than 90 days prior your arrival date, the entire payment of US$ *** is due immediately upon registration.
Our Workshops usually range from USD 3300 to 3900 (with deposit from 500 to 800) The prices depend on the artist conducting the workshop, the time of the year (lodging and meals costs may vary between May and September).
Upon reception of the initial deposit you will receive a receipt/confirmation in email.
Upon receiption of your final payment 60 days to arrival, you will be sent a final receipt and all the information pertinent to your stay. You can either use a credit card or a paypal account for your payments on our website under the deposit and balance due section.
Cancellation of the workshop
This tour is offered based on a minimum number of participants: 6. Provence Art Experience may cancel this tour if the minimum number of participants is not met 90 days prior the workshop dates. In the event of cancellation by us, enrolled participants will be offered alternative dates or a complete refund.

Once full final payment has been made, any cancellation notification must be emailed to :
If written cancellation is received more than 60 days prior the workshop: – 50% of your deposit will be forfeit unless we are able to enroll another participant for the tour, in which case you will get a full refund once full payment has been made by your replacement. Please be advised that it is extremely difficult to re-book the tour once cancellation is made within the 60 days prior to arrival date.
Less than 60 days prior the workshop the tour is not refundable.
No refunds are given for any unused portion of the workshop program, itinerary or services described.
Damages and charges
Guests are required to act in a responsible manner at all times. If during the workshop period a guest is acting irresponsibly or acting out in any way that disrupts the other participants on the tour, they will be asked to leave the tour and premises immediately. The participant is responsible for ensuring that the property is left upon departure in the same general condition and repair as on arrival Mathieu Brousses reserve the right to recover from participants the cost of any loss or damage caused by a failure to respect the property, fixtures, or fittings. Participants are required to use their long distance calling cards or credit cards when placing long distance calls. Low rate per minute international calling cards and cell phone are available locally (again, skype is your friend J).
Insurance is not provided. You are strongly advised to make the necessary arrangements with a reliable insurance company to cover all stages of the excursion including flight or transport cancellations as well as for cancellation of the group tour booking. Your travel agent should be able to help you with this.
We cannot be held responsible for events beyond our control such as breakdowns, leaks, power cuts, water shortages, floods, storm damage, strikes or force majeure deposit. We will do our best to resolve any complaints to the best of our ability.
We cannot accept liability for fortuitous events such as acts of God or war, riots or civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural disasters, fire, adverse weather conditions, or consequences of any person during the course of the journey. Mathieu Brousses shall not be held responsible in any way for any damage caused by or to participants if they do not undertake or complete their journey, nor for any contretemps during the journey due to delays, breakdowns or failure of the means of transport, nor illness, bad weather, strikes nor for any other reason due to force majeure. These conditions must be accepted by all members of the group tour party. We cannot reduce or waive these terms in the event of circumstances beyond control such as illness, injury or death, flight cancellation, war, civil uprising, terrorist attacks, labor strikes, earthquakes, floods, storm damage or force majeure. If, for reasons beyond our control, we are forced to cancel the booking, we will do our best to find a suitable alternative rental property or rental period.
Transport to and from paintings locations
While we ensure your personal safety through the use of suitable vehicles and qualified drivers, we recommend that you do take out travel insurance to provide personal and public liability protection. The level of insurance provided through us is limited to the standard of insurance provided through the vehicle company we use. We do not take responsibility for personal or material damage incurred due to negligent behavior including not wearing a seatbelt or leaving items unsecured or unattended in the vehicle. If you need to arrive outside advertised pick-up times or require pick-up or drop-off before or after arrival or departure days, these can be arranged at extra cost and are not included in your free pick-up/drop-offs.
A note to participants
Please understand that many of the conveniences, which we accept as normal in the USA and some other countries, are not always as readily available in other countries. It is very important to bring with you all medications and prescriptions. Your needs may be difficult to meet in another country. You should understand that the electrical systems in France function on a 220 voltage current. We recommend that you bring your own adapter.
All day trips require a reasonable amount of walking. Confortable walking shoes are recommended along with a variety of clothing for various weather conditions. Prepare for warm to cools days and cooler evenings. Also, US customs does not permit meat products and other items into the USA. Please check before you purchase items to be sure they will be allowed entry into other countries.
All images, photographs and video that is a record and documentation of this excursion to France, may be used for promotion of future Provence experience tours.
